A late-night operation at the bus park in Kisii ended with the arrest of four suspects and the recovery of a homemade firearm and other crude weapons following swift action by officers from Kisii Central Police Station.
According to police, the operation was launched shortly after midnight following a tip-off from members of the public about a suspicious gathering at the busy transport hub.
Officers responded swiftly and moved in on the suspects, who reportedly attempted to flee in different directions upon noticing the police presence. However, the officers managed to corner and arrest the four men, bringing the situation under control.
“As the police approached, the suspects attempted to make a break for it, scattering in all directions. But their escape plans quickly unraveled when the officers expertly cornered them, swiftly bringing the chaotic scene under control,” authorities said.
The suspects were identified as Evan Makori, Robert Omosa, Peter Kuria, and Moses Kariuki.
A search conducted during the operation led to the recovery of a homemade pistol loaded with a live 9mm round. Detectives also recovered two knives, a hammer, and other items believed to have been intended for criminal activities.
The four suspects are currently in police custody undergoing processing ahead of their arraignment in court.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations praised members of the public for providing timely information that helped facilitate the successful operation.
The agency further reaffirmed its commitment to combating crime and enhancing public safety across the country.
