KWS to Allow Free Entry for Select Pupils in School Tours Across Parks

The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has introduced a new offer that will allow schools to take students on trips to national parks, reserves, and sanctuaries at a lower cost.

Under the plan, 10 students will be allowed in for free for every 100 paying learners.

In a notice released on Tuesday, March 31, KWS said the offer will run from March 1 to June 30, 2026. It will apply to all learners, from nursery school to university level.

KWS also noted that children under six years will continue to enjoy free entry.

The service encouraged schools to use the April holidays to organize trips, saying the visits can help students learn more about wildlife and nature.

“Enjoy the Wild Scholars offer of 10 free entries for every 100 students, and turn the last days of term into an unforgettable experience. Come, the wild is waiting,” KWS said.

The organisation added that schools with larger groups will benefit more from the offer. “The more students you bring, the more free entries you get,” KWS noted.

In September 2025, KWS allowed all Kenyans to enter parks for free during World Tourism Day. In December, it also offered holiday discounts and special deals for groups and families.

On normal days, students pay between Ksh200 in most reserves and up to Ksh750 in premium parks such as Amboseli and Lake Nakuru National Park. KWS said the new offer is meant to reduce costs and encourage more schools to visit and learn from Kenya’s wildlife.
