Kilimani detectives have arrested and taken into custody, Benedict Odeng’ero Wekesa, a con suspect linked to over 2.5 million police recruitment fraud scheme.

This is after three victims came forward, each narrating how they were lured with promises of “guaranteed” entry into the police service.
The smooth-talking con artist targeted desperate job seekers by using soothing negotiable language towards his preys to pay recruitment fee for assurity of job .
The victims narrated how they were lured with forged recruitment letters and convinced to part with hefty sums of money. The suspect assured them that their slots were secured in the service.
“By the time reality finally kicked in, a total of Sh2.5 million had changed hands, and the dreams of joining the service had vanished,” said one of the victims.
After a thorough investigation detectives ambushed the suspect at Sagret Hotel in Kilimani, where he was resting at his comfort with his accomplice, who escaped on sensing danger.
“When we stormed the premises, we recovered twenty more fake police recruitment letters, exposing what looks like a well-oiled fraud operation,” said the DCI.
Wekesa is currently in custody, undergoing processing pending arraignment as detectives follow fresh leads to apprehend his accomplice.
“We are urging members of the public to beware of fake police recruiters and caution interested people who want to join the police force to be aware that genuine enlistment into the National Police Service is free, fair, and transparent,” DCI stated.
