Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party’s Communication Director Philip Etale, has come out to deconstruct rumours about the health status of Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

In a social media post on Tuesday October 7, Etale revealed that he had spoken with Odinga, who confirmed that he was in good health and doing well.
“I have spoken with HE Raila Odinga just under five minutes ago. He is jovial and happy,” Etale wrote, adding that Raila said, “I am seeing people spreading so much propaganda online, let’s keep praying for them.”
The ODM communication chief further disclosed that Raila Odinga was currently out of the country but was expected to return soon.
He added that the former premier sent his greetings to Kenyans.”He has sent me to convey his greetings to all of you and says he will be back in a few days.”
Etale’s statement comes amid speculations that Mr. Odinga had been hospitalized following his noticeable absence from the public eye.
On Sunday October 5, ODM issued a statement dismissing the claims as misleading and confirming that Odinga had travelled out of the country.
ODM also accused opposition leaders for fueling the reports regarding the credibility of Raila Odinga’s health.
“Honourable Raila travelled out of the country on Friday evening, one of many trips he has made this year and definitely not the last,” ODM noted.
“He definitely did not travel to Europe as reported by bloggers and some of the broadcast media. He is not indisposed as prayed for by his frustrated opponents.”
Raila was last seen on Friday during a meeting with ODM @20 celebrations planning committee, where he announced the postponement of the party’s major event.
