ODM’s 20th anniversary celebrations in Mombasa postponed.

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has announced the postponement of the much-anticipated 20th anniversary celebrations in Mombasa County.

The celebrations were initially planned for 10-12 October but will now be held from November 16-16, 2025.

In a statement shared on his socials after a consultative meeting with ODM @20 planning committee, Raila Odinga stated that the purpose of the decision is to promote inclusivity by visiting more counties before converging in Mombasa.

“After careful consideration, we have today decided to postpone TheODMparty @20 celebrations to ensure inclusivity by engaging with more counties before converging in Mombasa. Consequently, the main event in Mombasa has been rescheduled to 14th to 16th November 2025,” Mr. Odinga wrote on his socials.

ODM @20 planning committee chairperson and National Assembly minority leader Junet Mohammed noted that the party’s supporters requested for more county coverage following successful celebrations in Busia, Wajir, Kisii and Narok Counties.

“We have postponed ODM@20 Celebrations in Mombasa to November to allow the party visit more counties as requested by our supporters in the yet to be covered counties,” Junet said.

“To date, the ODM@20 celebrations have successfully been hosted in Busia, Wajir, Kisii, and Narok counties. However, there remains a strong call from other regions across the country for us to extend this historic commemoration to their areas as well,” he added.

He however explained that the rescheduling was a master plan to extend the party’s outreach by engaging with as many Kenyans as possible.

“We wish to assure our members, supporters, and the general public that the postponement is meant to strengthen our outreach, deepen inclusivity, and ensure that this milestone in our party’s history is celebrated by all Kenyans,” he said.

The party also released a new calendar that will include a soccer tournament on 9th & 10th October, a rally in Kajiado on 15th October, a similar one in Turkana on 26th October, a major event in Kilifi’s Magarini constituency and a final celebration in Nairobi on November 9.
