Former Interior Cabinet Secretary in the previous Uhuru Kenyatta administration, Fred Matiang’i, is set to make his first public appearance in the Gusii region on Friday, May 2, 2025.

In a statement shared by his secretariat, Matiang’i will be accompanied by elected leaders from region including Kisii County Governor Simba Arati, his Nyamira counterpart Amos Nyaribo, Senators Okong’o Omogeni and Richard Onyonka, as well as Members of Parliament and Members of County Assemblies.

The planned visit which will also include a meet-the-people tour, is a seen as a strategic plan to popularize the former Interior CS, who has shown interest for the presidency.

He will also make courtesy visits to the offices of the respective Governors of Kisii and Nyamira Counties.

Matiang’i landed back in the country from the United States on April 18.
