The Inspector General of police Douglas Kanja has ordered the transfer of senior police officers based Angata Barikoi area in Kilgoris, Narok County following the Monday clashes that left five people dead while several others nursing injuries.IG

Kanja was speaking during a consultative meeting attended by various leaders from region, in a bid to quell the tension culminating from the Monday incident.

Kanja ordered the Director of Criminal Investigations Mohamed Amin to expedite the transfer and replacement of the area DCIO including the General Service Unit commander for leading an operation that resulted to the loss of civilian lives.”I have heard you citizens saying that you want the DCIO gone. The DCIO should be reassigned back to the headquarters for other duties. Mr Amin, bring someone who will be capable of working for the citizens here,” Kanja directed.

“The GSU commander should also follow the same suit and should be reassigned elsewhere,” he announced.

He also assured the residents that investigations into the matter had been launched, with detectives from the DCI headquarters in Nairobi deployed to establish the truth and apprehend those responsible.

“Investigations have already been instituted, and all the investigators in Nairobi are here with you. They must establish the truth, and anyone found culpable will carry their own cross and must be held responsible for their actions,” Kanja assured the locals.
